In the age of the internet, it is surprising to see that not many people know how to use the Microsoft Word spelling and Grammar Check. Most spelling and grammatical errors can be avoided if your word program is set up correctly and used when prompted. If your spell check is turned on and you have spelled something incorrectly, you will see a red line under the misspelled word and the same thing for grammar. If a sentence, paragraph or word is grammatically incorrect you will see a green line under the word, sentence or paragraph, this is telling you something is wrong or incorrect.
How you go about setting the spelling and Grammar Check settings on Microsoft Word 2007.
1.) Click the Microsoft Office icon located at the top left hand corner of your screen.
2.) Click “Word Options” at the bottom right corner of the menu.
3.) Click “Proofing” on the left side in the Word Options box that opens.
It is here that you can set all the spelling and grammatical options one needs. In the first set of “check” boxes, you can check and uncheck to your preference. The most important ones are under where it says “Correcting spelling and grammar in Word”. Under that heading, you want to make sure that there are three things checked and they are:
1.) Check spelling as you type.
2.) Mark grammar errors as you type.
3.) Check grammar with spelling.
After completing this, word will notify you as you type with either a green or a red line when errors occur. You can correct the error right then and there or wait until you are done and correct the entire document at the whole time. If you wait until you are completed all you have to do is place your cursor at the top of the document and click Review > Spelling & Grammar. Word will then walk you through the corrections needed. That’s all it takes to setup spelling and Grammar Check in Word 2007.
